Why unroo?
A short story about a kangaroo, an Australian software company, and the tool we built to replace them both.
Project management software used to be the backbone of any software company. We used to run on Atlassian — Jira, Confluence, the whole kit. Atlassian is an Australian company, and Australia is famously home to the kangaroo. Hold onto that thread; it pays off in a minute.
The cost kept climbing. The features we needed most — the ones for actually working with our partners and clients — kept lagging. So we started building our own.
We could have slapped Fruition on the front of it and called it a day. That didn’t feel very fun.
So we leaned into it. Australia → kangaroo → we’re getting rid of the kangaroo. Un-roo. Same leap forward, none of the marsupial.
