Increase Your SEO: Optimize Your Whole Site

For some reason, many brands, companies, and personal sites focus all their search engine optimization on their home page. They may spend hours crafting just the right language, including all the right keywords and making sure their domain includes the right phrases to optimize for the keywords they’re trying to target. Then they go on their merry way for the rest of the site, seemingly paying no attention to SEO on other pages. If you really want to optimize your site, you need to focus on more than the front page. Here are a few tips to get your started.

1) Optimize ALL the text on your site

When you are looking at getting the right text and keywords for SEO on your site, don’t forget to use those keywords throughout the site and not just on the home page or other “important” pages. For example, as much as you can, try and use keywords in all your product descriptions, disclaimers, return policies, terms of use, and manager bio pages. Just because users won’t look at those pages very often doesn’t mean they can’t help your site move up in the ranks. Use all your text to get great SEO for your site.

2) Optimize ALL your links

Any time you mention any word that might be related to another part of your site, make it into a link. Interlinking your site helps users navigate. And search engines like sites that are easy to navigate. As well, make sure that whenever you link—when at all possible—use your keywords as anchor text. Keyword anchor text that links to pertinent information is great for search engine optimization.

3) Optimize ALL your headings

A basic tenant of SEO is that search engines count keywords inside <h1> tags more than they count regular paragraph text. This means that, whenever you can, you should make sure that your headings contain your optimal keywords.

4) Optimize ALL your URLs

Now only does the text on your site help with your search engine optimization but also the URLs to all the pages of your site. It’s great that you’ve managed to work in one of your main keywords into your domain name, but now you need to make sure that those keywords are part of your page URLs, in order to create maximum SEO effect.
